“Horizons” by Sarah Dickinson

If you live your life in darkness

It is the light you begin to fear

Seeing your end as a bright

White light

It is too warm

And pounding

So that although you cannot hear

You can feel the vibrations pounding

Just beyond

Where your eyelids should be

The light is everywhere

Loud in its silence

Cold and impersonal

Even in its radiance

Sarah Dickinson was born in Waterford, Michigan on September 6, 1996. She draws her inspiration from her little brother and her experience living abroad in South Korea. She currently attends Agnes Scott College where she studies Anthropology, which serves as yet another wellspring of inspiration for her. She collects weird quotes from the people she knows taped to the mirror on her dresser and won’t eat tomatoes.
